The course has been running fast at the Vaal since racing resumed on the 2nd June. Indeed, the course variant was 0,61 seconds fast yesterday. Take nothing away from the performance of Mr Flood though, who set a new course record over 1000m when beating Rivarine by two and a half lengths in the pinnacle stakes. The previous record was set by Magico way back in November 2010, and he carried 2kg less weight than Mr Flood.
